The Basilica of St John Lateran is called " Mater Eclessias", the mother of all Roman Catholic churches. Built by emperor Constantine, it had been the first papal church in Rome and the cathedral of the Roman bishop. Together with its first Roman baptistery and the shrine of the Holly Steps, it is a perfect setting for the lecture tour of early Christian Rome.
