Suggested itineraries in Italy
For the first time visitor

If you have one week:

Consider using Rome as your only base. Dedicate 3 days to seeing sights in Rome, spend one day in the Roman countryside, go south to see Pompeii and Amalfi coast and visit Florence and Tuscan countryside in an intensive day from Rome.

Your ideal seven days could look as follows:

day one

Morning arrival flight in Rome. Get picked from the airport and have Rome in 100 minutes orientation tour for the just arrived before checking into your hotel.
Have lunch in the area of you hotel. Spend the afternoon by visiting the sights of Ancient Rome including the Colosseum, the Forum, the capitol Hill and Circuss Maximus and the Capitoline Museums.
Spend after dinner time in the are of Navona Squaqre where the action takes place beyond midnight

day two

Visit the Vatican in the early morning to beat the crowds. Have lunch near the Pantheon. Spend the afternoon by walking through the old town: see the Pantheon , Caravaggio paintings in the Church of St Luigi dei Francesi, False  Dome in Baroque Church of St Ignatius. Do some serious window shopping near the Spanish Steps.
Have dinner near the Steps and conclude the day at the Trevi fountain.

day three

Spend the whole day touring Pompeii and Positano on the Amalfi Coast Drive.

day four

Visit the area of Appian way and the Catacombs. See the Basilica of St Paul's outside the Walls. Have lunch on Via Veneto. Walk through Borghese Park and visit the art collection of Villa Borghese Museum (do not forget to book timed entrance)

day five

Escape the city again and visit Tivoil with it's famous Villa D'Este fountains and gardens and the ruins of emperor Hadrian's  residence.
Have lunch picnic on the way.

Spend afternoon by exploring Campo dei Fiori Square, Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere neighborhood. Have best Roman pizza in one of the numerous joints there.

day six

Take a long day tour to Florence and Tuscany as you still remember it from the recent movie" Under the Tuscan Sun " Visit small, picturesque towns of Orvieto and San Gimignano on the way. See David in the Academy and 10 best paintings in the Uffizi including Boticellis " Primavera " Have unforgettable dinner in a winery on the way back to Rome.

day seven

Rest. Do more shopping. Persue your private interests by taking one of our "Beyond the Obvious" lecture tours. Enjoy  Rome unplanned.

day eight

Get transferred back to the airport and start planning your next Italian adventure as you fly back home
