Suggested itineraries in Italy If you have one week: Consider using Rome as your only base. Dedicate 3 days to seeing sights in Rome, spend one day in the Roman countryside, go south to see Pompeii and Amalfi coast and visit Florence and Tuscan countryside in an intensive day from Rome. Your ideal seven days could look as follows: day one Morning arrival flight in Rome. Get picked from the airport and have Rome in 100 minutes orientation tour for the just arrived before checking into your hotel. day two Visit the Vatican in the early morning to beat the crowds.
