Suggested itineraries in Italy
For the first time visitor

If you have two weeks:

You will see major sights of Rome, Florence and Venice, slow down when visiting small towns and driving back roads of Tuscany, make a trip south to see Pompeii, Positano and Amalfi Coast with  Capri island before returning to Rome.
Make hotel reservations in Rome, Florence and Venice and Amalfi Coast possibly in Positano. Make Rome your arrival and departure point.

You would break the time and book 4 nights in Rome, 3 nights in
Florence, 2 nights in Venice, 3 nights in Positano and 1 night again
near Rome airport.

 

These are your ideal itinerary:

day one, overnight in Rome

Morning arrival flight to Rome. Check into your hotel. Have a 100 minute orientation tour in the early afternoon. Spend the afternoon on your own exploring Rome's old town. Walk to  the Pantheon before dinner and Trevi Fountain after dinner.

day two, overnight in Rome

Spend the morning by visiting the sights of Ancient Rome including the Colosseum, the Forum, the Capitol Hill, Circus Maximus and the highlights of Capitoline Museums (see our Ancient Rome tour)

Take one of our Rome custom city tours to persue your personal
interest ( see our Rome private tours list ).

Spend after dinner time in the are of Navona Squaqre where the action takes place beyond midnights

day three, overnight in Rome

Leave Rome and visit the countryside. See Villa D'Este with gardens and fountains and spectacular emperor Hadrian's ancient residence known as Hadrians Villa. Alternatively visit Etruscan sights of Cerveteri or study renaissance  villas of Caprarola and Linte
In the afternoon visit the magic triangle between Piazza del Popolo, Spanish Steps and Via del Corso and meet other serious shoppers
Visit the Vatican in the early morning to beat the crowds. Walk through  the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica of St Peter's
Spend evening persuing your private interests or take one of our Beyond the Obvious in depth tours.

day five, overnight in Florence

Dedicate the whole day to sightseeing between Rome and Florence. Stop in Orvieto have lunch in a Tuscan vineyard, visit Siena and drive the back roads of magic Chianti.

day six, overnight in Florence

Start in early morning and take our Florence in a Day custom tour.
Dedicate late afternoon for shopping.

day seven, overnight  in Florence

Dedicate the day to your private exploration or take our custom country tour to see Pisa, Lucca, and Carrara  quarries or explore Tuscan vineyards with your private sommelier.

day eight, overnight in Venice

Take a morning Eurostar train to Venice. In the afternoon Have a Venice orientation tour in the including private Canale Grande cruising afternoon. Explore more Venice on your own before dinner

day nine, overnight in Venice

Have lunch on Murano island and visit Burano and Torcello in the lagoon.

day ten, overnight in Positano

Take the domestic flight to Naples and get transferred to your Positano retreat.
Enjoy the climate of one of the most scenic spots on the globe

day eleven, overnight in Positano

Rent a chauffeured car to visit Amalfi and Ravello. Enjoy Positano in the afternoon

day twelve, overnight in Positano

Spend the whole day exploring the island of Capri

day thirteen

Start late. Visit Pompeii before you arrive at your hotel near Rome airport.

day fourteen

Depart from home and start brooding where you would like to return on your next Italian trip.
